How will the Mid-Term Elections effect the Stock Market?
There’s no doubt it’s been a tough year to be an investor. Almost all asset categories are down significantly this year. As long term investors, we know that temporary declines are part of the process. The time periods after significant declines historically have been the most rewarding for patient investors. With the Mid-term elections coming this fall, I wanted to share some research from First Trust on that last 18 mid-term election years. Every year, at some point, has a decline. Many years have double-digit declines. But the years following, in every case, are above-average. This is my favorite slide, but for those interested I’ve attached First Trust’s full report on mid-term elections. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions about your individual situation!
